Fireproof windows and doors in Ukraine.

Fire doors (fire-resistant doors) are a structural element used to fill the openings in the fire barriers and prevent the spread of fire into the bordering rooms during the standardized time, called the fire resistance limit.

The main purpose of EI class fire doors is to withstand high temperatures (up to 180 degrees Celsius) from the side not facing the fire (i.e. cold) for a certain number of minutes.

According to the DMV, this parameter expressed in minutes, and measured from the start of the thermal action on the fire-extinguishing door until the t least one of the limit states has occurred.

The limits are defined as:

• • loss of structural integrity;
• • loss of the door's heat-insulating ability;
• • violation (change) of supporting structures.

So, the EI fire-extinguishing doors means that the door must withstand the fire for a certain number of minutes without loss of integrity and thermal insulation capacity. In fact, the abbreviation EI demonstrates the period of time in which this element capable to withstand fire. So, fire doors EI 60 are able to protect against smoke and fire for an hour.

There are three types of fire-extinguishing doors:

• opaque ("deaf")
• glazed - with glazing less than 25% of the area
• with glazing over 25% of the area.

Fire proof doors are structurally divided into the following types:

• wooden;
• metal from steel profiles;
• metal from aluminum profiles.

Wooden fire doors have a special impregnation with fire retardant compounds.

Fireproof glazed doors made of steel or aluminum profiles are comfortable and aesthetic, have good sound and thermal insulation, which is ensured by the use of additional thermo-insulating materials during their manufacture and installation.

Aluminum fireproof doors are the most popular and more widely used in construction than steel or wooden ones. This is due to the fact that the aluminum material has an increased strength, not exposed to corrosion, and also characterized by strength, plasticity and stunning soundproofing abilities. Accordingly, fire doors made of aluminum are durable, reliable and retain their beautiful appearance for a long time.

When electromechanical or electromagnetic locks with remote control are used, access control system should provide full functionality of the door in case of power failure (electromechanical locks unblocking or blocking during power failure, back-up control circuits, uninterruptible power supply).
